“Beyond Tiles”: beyond ceramic surfaces. This title is an encouragement for creativity. This is why Ceramiche Caesar has chosen it to present its stimulating programme of events that, from May 23 to 25, will animate the spaces of the Urban Lab especially for the Clerkenwell Design Week. Located at 17/18 Great Sutton Street, in the heart of Clerkenwell, for three days Urban Lab will become the nerve centre of a series of events that will actively involve guests, in different manners, in activities that are closely related to the company's philosophy: being promoters of a real “Culture of material”, not only based on the technical value of porcelain stoneware but also on research conducted on trends and architectural styles resulting from a combination of art, fashion and design. For the first time in Europe, Caesar will be presenting its new collections Fabula and Anima Select, which have already been presented in the States at Coverings 2017. Fabula tells the tale of the discovery of five extremely precious kinds of wood to create surprisingly faithful reproductions under the form of porcelain stoneware and give warmth and natural elegance to the most diverse architectural contexts; Anima Select transfers the tactile and visual authenticity of marble into porcelain stoneware and optimises its features. At the Urban Lab, open every day from 10 am to 9 pm, you can consult and draw inspiration from the CrossDesign Magazine 2016/2017, a tool and a guideline for architects, designers and professionals, created by Ceramiche Caesar. The magazine, which started as a meticulous trend research, has been inspired by the most diverse sources (fashion, visual art, cultural events but also traditional craftsmanship, raw materials and architectural history) and reinterprets them in the light of three trends: Reverb, Peaceful and Rise. These three trends were the inspiration for the CrossDesign Contest 2017, a challenge for the talent and creativity of architects, designers, academy and university students all over the world, which has the purpose of creating a project for the new Caesar Gallery. During the London design week, visitors of the Urban Lab will have the possibility to see and touch the inspiration trends and discuss them with the creators of this contest. And, of course, they can sign up to take part. Every evening, from 5 to 9 pm, Urban Lab will become a theatre for the live performance of the artists of the Graffiti Life team, which will create, each with his or her own style, three works of art on the 120x120 cm slabs, drawing inspiration from the Reverb, Peaceful and Rise trends. A special welcome will be reserved to visitors every afternoon from 2 to 5 pm with a delicious ice cream treat served from a restored ice cream cab. Ceramiche Caesar looks forward to meeting the visitors of the Clerkenwell Design Week at its Urban Lab, in 17/18 Great Sutton Street, Clerkenwell, London.
